EMC Volcanics: LCAs and EPDs

Worked examples of LCAs:

AMSTERDAM

A1: the mined source is a coarse and loose aggregate (as is common with Mediterranean volcanics), hence requiring no additional crushing for our processing; A2: 5,600km shipping; and A3: processing at the Port of Amsterdam using 100% renewable source electricity (typically 100 kWh/tonne):

CALIFORNIA

A1: the mined source is a coarse and loose aggregate (as is common with Californian volcanics), hence requiring no additional crushing for our processing; A2: 20 miles round trip by truck; and A3: Processing at the EMC California facilities, using 100% renewable source electricity:

And here's what a low LCA means:

In the document below, we use the colour charts as suggested by the U.K.'s I.C.E. in the 2022 version of its Low Concrete Routemap (here) that we fully support. Applying Caltrans-2023 and EN mixes, we set out several visual "certificates" using Californian-sourced volcanics (PDF here: intermediate to expert).
