Here's a small EMC installation for comparison. These machines are electrical and hence produce no combustion fumes. Just these three machines can stop over 100,000 tonnes of CO2 every year. 


A million-tonne EMC plant stops about 800,000 tonnes CO2 per year being put out, but will require about only 2 hectares of land. That's it!

If it's replacing coal, 1 MW of solar cuts 890 tonnes CO2 per year (here). At 1 million tonnes EMCs per year, that means to match an EMC plant's CO2 avoidance, requires ~900 MW in solar capacity. 


For the same CO2-abatement effect as a 1 million tonne EMC plant, solar needs 900 to 1,800 hectares land. An EMC plant? 2 hectares!
